I hope you all spent a happy Christmas and New Year around family and friends. I personally managed to make it back to my home city Marseille in France for some serious relaxation- much easier to do of course in mild Mediterranean weather surrounded by family It was indeed a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of wintery London, but we’re all back at WAYN HQ now and ready to get 2011 off to a rollicking start.
Speaking of the winter, it is the season that many in the northern hemisphere associate with skiing. In a recent poll by our WAYN Insights division, Switzerland was found to have the best slopes for skiing. If any of you have yet to decide where to go for that ultimate ski break, then the study is likely to prove very handy (see the table below). Further, what we found was that- in keeping with WAYN’s diversity- you’re sure to find WAYNers wherever you go, be it the more traditional ski resorts in Europe, North America and Japan, or those more up and coming ski locations in Chile, New Zealand and South Korea!
As for 2011, it looks to be a promising year for us, if the activity in the tech and digital media scene in 2010 is anything to go by. As a web start-up ourselves, the unstoppable growth of social media, epitomised in the choice of Mark Zuckerberg (the founder of Facebook) as Time Magazine’s Person of the Year, is very satisfying indeed. Not only does it confirm our commitment and belief in the power of connecting people from all over the globe, but also that the industry is continually expanding- enabling us to thrive in our niche in the media landscape. That WAYN allows you to connect with people outside of your social graph, and its ability to connect diverse people around the universal theme of travel, lifestyle and aspirations ensures we will always stand out from the crowd. And the wealth of new updates that are coming your way in the next few weeks, enabling you to more easily broadcast what’s on your mind to, and get valuable recommendations and offers, from others will confirm WAYN’s position at the forefront of the social revolution.
So stay tuned- 2011 is going to be great!
